40+ Players Released By IPL Franchise For IPL 2017. Names include Ishant Sharma, Eoin Morgan and Dale Steyn
IPL 2017 Update – Big names from cricket world have been released by their IPL franchise before the IPL 2017 Auction. 15th December being the deadline for release of players, more than 40 players have been released by the franchise and will have to find their new home for IPL 2017. The big names include Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Eoin Morgan and many more.
Sanjeev Goenka’s Rising Pune Supergiants, who finished IPL 2016 on 7th position have released close to 10 players. Kevin Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Murugan Ashwin and Irfan Pathan are some surprising names who were released by RPS. Ishant Sharma who just got married would not be pleased by this news. Sources confirm similar action has been taken by Rajkot franchise. The complete list has not been known but many domestic players along with speedster Dale Steyn have been released. Dale Steyn who was injured during Australia vs South Africa has confirmed that he would not be a part of IPL 2017 and is hoping to return for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The current champions Sunrisers Hyderabad have released Ashish Reddy and T Suman. England ODI skipper Eoin Morgan has also been shown the doors by SRH. Kolkata Knight Riders have released four foreign players which include big names like John Hastings, Morne Morkel, Colin Munro and Jason Holder.
There is no adequate information regarding Delhi Daredevils released player list. Delhi Daredevils are known for selective retention and for releasing big players. Even no information is available for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. But it is expected that MI will release underperformed players like Unmukt Chand.
Due to no increase in salary cap, IPL franchise needs to stick with the good players and release all under par players in order to go into the auction with the reasonable amount. In IPL 2017 Auctions, franchises have to manage with Rs 63 crores. All the released players would be part of IPL Auction 2017. IPL Auction is expected on 4th February 2017 in Bangalore.
